American Museum of Natural History

Figure 1: Me and my friend the hadrosaur!

Just a quick post to say what a wonderful time I had when I visited the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) recently in New York.

It’s an exceptionally large museum; even incorporating a planetarium!  The displays were informative and visually arresting; some like the 1970s dioramas were historically interesting in their own right!  However, my own experience of the fossils galleries was that there wasn’t much for children (only big children!)

Figure 2: Who says botanical displays are boring?!

I had a wonderful time; and could easily have spent the entirity of my New York trip here! (having only really got round the fossil hall).  If you are in New York anytime soon I would definitely recommend a visit; but make sure you give yourself at least a day here.  That way you may end up getting through maybe half of the museum anyway!
